8:15 am Keynote Conversation with Darla Figoli, SVP Human Resources, Xcel Energy
Xcel Energy provides electricity and natural gas to millions of homes and businesses across eight Western and Midwestern states. In 2018 Xcel began efforts to refine the company’s values and communicate them to employees across all service areas. Darla Figoli will share Xcel’s motivation to focus on values, what the process consisted of and share insight from efforts thus far and where Xcel is focusing on for future organizational development efforts. In addition, we’ll ask Darla about the impact to company culture by Xcel’s aggressive renewable energy goals and carbon reduction efforts.
9:00 a.m. – 9:45 am Building Culture from Scratch presented by Kathy Dahlman, Principal,
KSD Performance Consulting, LLC.
In this session, we’ll discuss the importance of culture and how to intentionally build an inclusive work place where everyone is working towards common mission and values. Attendees will answer key questions about strategy and structure that will help set the stage to tackle culture questions that come up through out the day.
9:45 – 10:15 am Morning Break
Laura is charged with overseeing culture and communications for one of the energy sector’s leading companies. In this session, Laura will discuss BP’s proactive public communication as well how the company culture enables BP to focus on capitalizing on emerging business models and markets while managing changing regulations, an evolving workforce and fickle public perception. We’ll learn how BP frames and communicates company culture and how that interfaces with enterprise projects and initiatives.
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 pm Panel Discussion: Leading the Culture Charge
Translating a company’s vision and values into a positive company culture is no small feat. The work is never done as company culture is dynamic and must be cared for and tended to. In this panel, culture heroes will discuss the ins and outs of organizational transformation and change management while focusing on safety and reliability along with business goals and outcomes.

Platte River Power Authority (PRPA) provides wholesale electric generation and transmission to several municipal utilities in Northern Colorado. PRPA’s vision is “As a respected leader and responsible energy partner, to improve the quality of life for the citizens served by our owner communities”. In the session, Alyssa will discuss how PRPA is evolving to meet and exceed customer expectations and their surrounding communities. Also, we’ll ask Alyssa to discuss the nexus of strategy and culture from an organizational standpoint.
